Product Care

At Legoe Heritage, we believe that caring for our clothing is a crucial step in ensuring your clothing’s longevity. Each garment is crafted with meticulous attention to detail and made from high-quality fabrics designed to withstand the test of time. Our philosophy on maternity wear is to be an example that it is possible to offer clothes that consider wear throughout all stages of pregnancy, nursing and afterwear. Proper care plays a vital role in this, preserving the integrity and beauty of our garments.

In this guide, we will share our recommendations on how to care for our fabrics, helping you prolong the life of your favourite pieces and maintain their pristine condition for years to come.

Cotton

A natural and breathable fibre for you and your babe, known for its softness and durability. Made from the fibres of the cotton plant, which are harvested, cleaned, carded to align the fibres, spun into yarn, and then woven or knitted into fabric.

To care for cotton garments, wash them in cold water (30°C or below) using a gentle detergent, avoid bleach, and either hang them to dry or tumble dry on low heat to maintain their softness and shape.

Ribbed Knit

Cotton, Cotton Blends, Viscose Blends

Light or mid-weight knits with a soft hand feel and the most beautiful stretch for comfort. Our ribbed knits are a staple of the Legoe collection these fibres are knitted together resulting in a stretchy, ribbed texture that is perfect for the different stages of pregnancy and motherhood.

To care for ribbed cotton knits or cotton blend fabrics, wash them inside out in cold water with a mild detergent, reshape while damp, and air dry flat or tumble dry on low heat to prevent stretching and maintain texture.

After multiple wears it is quite normal for some light pilling to occur on knit fabrications due to the friction and abrasion that occurs during everyday use, causing loose fibers to bunch up and form small balls on the fabric surface. To treat this, gently remove the pills using a fabric shaver or a lint brush, or alternatively, use a handheld fabric defuzzer to carefully trim away the pills without damaging the fabric.

Viscose

Or Viscose Blends

A lightweight woven (no stretch) fabrication that drapes & falls like a dream. Viscose is derived from wood pulp or bamboo to create a liquid cellulose solution, which is then extruded through spinnerets to form fibres that are spun into yarn and woven or knit into soft, breathable fabric.

Always refer to the care label – some viscose and viscose blends should only be dry cleaned.

To care for other viscose or viscose blend fabrics, hand wash or use a delicate machine wash in cold water with a gentle detergent. Avoid wringing or twisting, and reshape while damp before laying flat to dry to maintain their softness and prevent shrinkage. Never place viscose or viscose blend items in the dryer as it will shrink. If you find they've gotten a touch smaller, a warm steam (not iron) will restore their shape as viscose expands with heat.

Linen

A super light weight woven (no stretch) linen blend fabrication that has a soft hand feel and drapes effortlessly. Linen is made from the fibers of the flax plant, which is considered a sustainable fabrication due to flax requiring minimal water and pesticides, and its production typically involves fewer chemicals and energy compared to other fibres.

Wash it in lukewarm or cold water with a gentle detergent, avoid wringing or twisting, and either air dry or tumble dry on low heat to maintain its natural texture and drape.

Workout wear

Rayon / Spandex

Our maternity activewear collection is made from a mid-light weight super stretchy rayon that is buttery soft and incredibly comfortable for you and your babe. This fabrication is lightweight, breathable, and stretchy, providing comfort and freedom of movement. Rayon is a semi-synthetic fibre derived from cellulose, with spandex allowing for elasticity.

To care for rayon/spandex activewear, wash it in cold water with a gentle detergent, avoid using bleach or fabric softeners, and either hang it to dry or tumble dry on low heat to preserve its stretch and shape.

Denim

Cotton / Spandex

Our denim pieces are made with a soft lightweight denim with slight stretch to allow for comfort and ease of movement. Made by blending a cotton twill denim, with a small amount of spandex fibres to enhance stretch and recovery.

Always wash denim it inside out to prevent fading and snagging with other items in the load. Use cold water, avoiding fabric softener, harsh detergents or bleach, then air dry to maintain its colour and shape.

Swimwear

Nylon / Spandex

A soft, stretchy mid to light weight swimwear fabrication that holds you nice and close. Our Swimwear fabrics feature an elevated ribbed texture allowing further stretch.

To care for our swimwear, rinse it in cold water after each use, avoid wringing or twisting, and hand wash with a mild detergent, then air dry away from direct sunlight to maintain its elasticity and colour vibrancy.
