Work Appropriate Maternity Looks

In the season of pregnancy, navigating office attire while embracing your changing body might seem like a daunting task.

We're curating our best tips for shopping maternity work clothes that seamlessly blend comfort and style. Ensuring you feel true to yourself, confident and empowered in the workplace.

The Foundation

When shopping for a work maternity capsule, lay the groundwork by setting a colour palette - whether that be neutrals or a colour theme. This will allow for effortless mixing and matching, providing you with a range of polished looks throughout your trimesters.

The Power of Coordination

Capsule wardrobes thrive on coordination, and your work-appropriate maternity wardrobe is no exception. Invest in coordinating sets that allow the flexibility of creating effortless head-to-toe ensembles or mixing with other pieces for a fresh look. This will ensure that you can get the most of the pieces you add to your wardrobe whilst your body is changing, and wear them on high rotation without feeling repetitive.

Guided by your office dress code, select a set that includes pieces you know will work with other pieces you own - a great example is The Vest and Holiday Rayon Pant. The Vest lends a chic work-appropriate feel and the loose pants are a comfortable slant on a classic wide leg trouser. Wear again with a simple Knitted Tank for a completely different look.

Invest in a Dress

Our number one recommended piece to invest in for pregnancy office attire is a dress. Offering maximum comfort but also the flexibility to dress up or down and layer for impact.

Our favourite style for this is a knit fabrication, one that will stretch to accommodate your changing body throughout all trimesters, postpartum and beyond. Due to its flattering, formfitting shape a Knit Dress can be layered underneath a Cardigan, Jacket or unbuttoned Shirt, or even give the illusion of a skirt layered underneath a top or jumper. This is an excellent trick if you get uncomfortable with waistbands in the later trimesters.

Consider Postpartum

Beyond pregnancy, another important consideration is your return to work wardrobe. Depending on your stage of return, you may need to accommodate breastfeeding or pumping, and also looks that work with your still-changing body.

A clever way to accommodate this is selecting maternity pieces throughout your pregnancy that cater for postpartum too, like button-down shirts, wrap tops or dresses and pieces with side zippers.
